Presumed to have been put up in memory of her father Sam a long standing Member of the club, or it is also reported that as the membership of the club grew there was a suggestion that a pairs competition should be run and Diane offered to supply a trophy.

Sam Barnes Trophy

In Memory of Club Members first wife. The trophy now being played for is not the original. Sam Barnes originally presented a small trophy which had belonged to his ex wife. At a Committee meeting it was decided to play for it on the same principal as a Club night. The winner to keep it for a year A few years later Sam Barnes saw that the competition was still being played and got a new trophy. The old one was kept by the last winner of it who is believed to have been Doris Rasch.
